Hello all. Hope you had a wonderful holidays if you celebrated recent festivities. We are finally back after the site was hacked. The delay was because of an as yet unsolved issue that cropped up when updating the site to make it more secure but since no solution came up I've decided to unleash the upgraded website, with a new skin, now otherwise it would be down indefinitely.

The issue is an inability to change passwords, except to the one emailed out "temporary" password you get when using forgotten password feature. Since we were hacked it is however recommended that you try to change your password both here and anywhere else you used the same password if applicable. If it won't let you do so on edit profile as usual we ask that you use forgotten password feature (seen under login password box) to get a new one emailed - please remember to make sure your email address is uptodate first though.

Some other small added features may be broken, for example spoiler code is currently, and if you come across anything that looks to be not working correctly or missing (or suspicious) please let me know either commenting here or by PM.

Sadly the mwexplosion event is cancelled this year, but I'm glad to say we're still doing the monthly or so challenges, so it's still worthwhile checking out the community in the meantime.

In fact there's just a week left to get prompt submissions in for the prompt battle - we're a little short so any idea or wish however small it may be is good.

And we also have a new multimedia challenge for the graphical and vidding (and even famixing) people out there - the Alternate Universe challenge with a deadline of December 15th, to give you a month and a half to whip up something creative for it. :)

The deadline for prompt submissions for the Challenge 7 prompt battle has been extended to Friday 8th November - I'm sure everyone has little plot bunnies you'd liked to see written so why not add them here and it might get written in the battle.

Just a notice to point out voting on the S3/4 vid challenge is only open until this Friday, so get your vote in if you haven't already!

Also, challenge 7, submissions for prompts has been extended until Friday 27th October, please check the challenge out here and hopefully add a prompt or two to the list to inspire the writers out there with.

The Isis Awards 2008 is currently taking nominations until the 25 October, so don't forget to nominate your favourite McKay/Weir stories! :)

An extension has been added to challenge 4 as we've yet to received enough entries - you now have until Monday 1st September to submit. All we ask is a minimum 100 words, so why not give it a go? :)

We've also got voting open on the icontest challenge 5 until 9PM GMT next Friday, August 29th.

As you may have already read elsewhere - namely on Gateworld - Stargate Atlantis has been cancelled. Season 5 will be the last season to air, though a 2 hour TV/straight-to-DVD movie to tie off loose ends is very likely to happen, with the possibility of more movies in the future much like has happened with SG-1.

Regardless of the state of canon McKay/Weir Central, and it's sister site the Weir/McKay fanfic archive, will be sticking around as long as people find enjoyment here. We hope people will continue to be inspired by what source material there is and of course the endless alternate universe and future!fic possibilities.

Remember, it's never truly the end if what you love lives on in spirit. :)
